I have persistent chronic injuries from either overuse or acute trauma from previous years. Things got so bad that by summer 2023, I stopped all forms of exercise--devastating for someone who had been very active all their life (I'm 34). I came to Matt in the summer of 2024, knowing I needed to start moving again. My body was becoming worse in other ways from inactivity, but I had developed a lot of fear around moving--fear of triggering pain and aggravating old injuries (hamstring tendinosis and two bulging discs being the main ones). I wanted to work with someone who understood these issues, who could guide me physically and mentally, and help me rebuild my strength in a slow and safe way.
Matt put me at ease during the consultation. For the first few weeks, we took it easy, trying out different movements to monitor how my body responded and to relax my nervous system when trying new things. After a few months, my confidence grew, my strength increased, and my booty grew (woohoo!!). Overall, I just feel a lot better. I had also been nervous about being in a gym--it felt overwhelming since I didn't know the equipment and it was all new to me (my previous activities were various sports outside of a gym). Now I love it! I've learned so much from Matt, and I enjoy working out in the gym anytime I want. I also have the confidence and knowledge to work out on my own outside of PT sessions.
